Floor Maintenance Tips

Traditional Vinyl & LVT

When cleaning floors, it’s best to use a soft-bristle brush or a mop with a nonabrasive floor cleaner. Ideally, all spills should be taken care of immediately to avoid the chance of staining. While these materials are resistant to scratches or scuffs, you should still try and minimise the chances of these happening. Always lift and carry furniture that needs to be moved; you should avoid pushing, pulling, or dragging furniture.
Carpets

The best way to protect carpets and to retain their colour is to keep up a weekly vacuum schedule. Soil, dirt and other particles can cause carpets to fade, and they can actually decrease the air quality in your home. It’s also a good idea to rotate furniture and to close blinds during peak sunlight hours to give your carpet a chance to rest. We recommend that you have your carpets steam cleaned or shampooed every one to two years to keep them looking and feeling new.
Hardwood

Hardwood floor care is very similar to that of vinyl. You’ll want to sweep, dust or vacuum with soft, non-abrasive materials/products. The main difference is that you should have your hardwood floors refinished about every three to five years. This coat keeps your floors shining and protected while minimising the appearance of any scratches or scuffs.
